These findings show that authentic instruction does not exacerbate, and often helps reduce, gaps in student achievement attributable to studentsâ demographic backgrounds, or learning disabilities, which helps to advance equity. Unfortunately, since most studies found wide variation between classes within schools, wide variation between schools in the levels of authentic instruction offered, and overall low levels of authentic instruction, most schools are still a long way from offering authentic instruction to all. 7
